Mould Making Process for High-Quality Carbon Fiber Parts

   At kopp-voracek, we take great care in ensuring that our carbon fiber parts are of the highest quality. One crucial step in achieving this is the mould-making process. Here, we use state-of-the-art techniques to create high-precision moulds that produce flawless parts. 

   To start the process, we use a 3D printed model to create the mould. This model is carefully designed and tested to ensure that it is manufacturable and that it will produce a part that meets the required specifications. Once we have the 3D model, we use infusion technique to create the mould. This involves laying up the carbon fiber over the 3D printed model and infusing it with resin. The result is a mould that is free of voids and bubbles, ensuring that the final parts are of the highest quality. 

   To achieve a high-gloss finish on the final parts, we use epoxy gel coats. These gel coats are highly polishable, ensuring that the final parts have a smooth, mirror-like surface. In addition to the gel coats, we can also use other techniques, such as sanding and buffing, to achieve the desired finish. 

   For larger or more complex parts, we create the mould on CNC milled epoxy blocks. This approach ensures that the mould is highly accurate and can produce parts with precise dimensions. Once the mould is complete, we cure it straight in an autoclave. This is the ideal procedure for creating moulds for autoclave-cured composites. 

   For even higher precision parts, we mill directly from aluminium material moulds. This approach ensures that the parts have excellent dimensional accuracy and can meet the most stringent specifications. The aluminium moulds are highly durable, making them ideal for high-volume production runs.

 

   At every step of the mould-making process, we carefully monitor the process to ensure that the moulds are of the highest quality. We use the latest techniques and equipment to create moulds that are accurate, durable, and free of defects.
